Choral speaking

What is choral speaking? Based on Merriam-Webster’s dictionary it is defined as an ensemble speaking by a group often using various voice combinations and contrasts to bring out the meaning or tonal beauty of a passage of poetry or prose. This has been a tradition carried out in PCGPHS for a long time by the English Language Department.

The main purpose of this exercise is to encourage students to use the English Language and to be able to project their voices without feeling awkward or shy. Another purpose of this exercise is to promote unity amongst classmates and to have fun along the way.

Every year, our students put out the best performance and it’s always a pleasure watching them use the language that they’re always afraid of using on a daily basis.

On behalf of all the English Language teachers, I’d say we all feel that this exercise is always a success and students have lots of fun practising in class and performing it on stage. This tradition must be preserved at all cost.
